- Stop victimizing and reliving your story- See every experience and person as what The Course in Miracles calls “a holy encounter”. This means that every person and experience offers you the opportunity to grow, heal, and strengthen your life. Everything is a lesson and the universe is working in your favor to make you a better you.
- Self Check- Check your thoughts and feelings. Why am I feeling and thinking this way? I went to a wonderful lecture this past weekend. One of the presenters talked about wearing a rubber band around your wrist. Every time you have a bad thought, you flick yourself with the rubber band. This rubber band exercise is a conditioning exercise. It conditions you to stop the negative thoughts about yourself and to ignore the Ego. Watch out for the Ego. Are your thoughts ego based or love based?
- Be grateful-Instead of looking at all the bad things about the person or situation, point out some positives. Dating is practice and doesn’t always work out. Instead of complaining, saying another one bites the dust and why did I try again only to fail; point out what you learned from the experience. Maybe there are some things that you have to work on. What would have you done differently? What will you carry to the next encounter? What are some of the things that you did right? Were you authentic while you were around the person?
- Support- Sometimes family and friends can inform of us of a behavior that we don’t realize we are doing. They can give a subjective assessment because they know who we really are. Be careful though, sometimes in bad relationships family and friends can be emotionally vested and take your actions personally. Support can also mean going to a therapist.
- Trust in Divine Timing and The Law of Attraction- This tip is a little harder than the others. How can you have faith in something that you cannot see? “When the queen is ready, her king will come”-Shanel Cooper-Sykes. This is one of my favorite quotes. Get out of your personal timing, believe that change is coming. You have to believe, and think into existence (The Law of Attraction). We attract what comes in our life. Visualize what you want to come into existence.
- “You have to be the Love, to Live the Love”- In order to receive love we must first have love in our heart for ourselves. We must always keep love in our hearts no matter what. Love unconditionally. Don’t get this confused. Loving unconditionally does not mean to keep putting yourself in situations where people can harm you. It means loving yourself, standing up for yourself while respecting others, creating boundaries, and not letting anyone treat you less than you would treat yourself. We can start by loving ourselves first, then letting that love extend to others. I know it gets hard. I too have struggled to keep love in my heart and forgive others when all seems lost. You have to keep love in your heart for you. The world will pass you by without a care or a second glance. You have to help yourself before you can help anyone else.
Always stay loving and keep your beauty intact. Don’t let the past or outside influences change your heart. People are attracted to others that love and care for themselves, it shows evidence that you can care for other people also. When you keep your loving heart, you keep your glow, your spirit. This is a daily struggle, but when you train your heart and turn to love you can alleviate a lot of problems.
